Successful bond issue under way with new roof at GUES

The first physical feature of the May 12 school bond issue was in action on Monday with the beginning of a roof being installed on a Guthrie elementary school. It can be said that the roof is the most important part of any building so it needs to be safe and secure. With any roof, it’s important to get professionals, like the guys over at Titan Roofing & Roof Restoration (www.tennesseeroofingpros.com), to fit it so that it’s sturdy. A sturdy and secured roof has a smaller chance of being damaged.

Contractors from Graco Roofing were scene at Guthrie Upper Elementary to begin installing a new roof. This is the beginning of Phase I of the $16.2 million bond issue approved by Guthrie Public School patrons.

For Guthrie Upper Elementary, built-in 1989, the estimated cost to replace the original roof was estimated at $945,000. Many roofing firms, such as https://danielnicholasroofing.com/, would have been able to do the job perfectly fine, but the scale was quite large in this instance.

“We have prioritized the needs of our current facilities and hope to address the most significant deficiencies in the district with this issue,” Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson said last September.

In this phase, GUES, Central and Fogarty Elementary Schools will receive new roofs. The roofing project is expected to be completed this fall. To ensure this deadline is met, a professional and efficient roofing company, like this commercial roofing St Louis business, should be hired. A reliable company like this will guarantee the longevity of the roof for years to come.

Central Elementary is also scheduled to receive heating/air conditioning upgrades, energy efficient windows and outdoor mortar restoration this summer.

Estimates for the roofs alone total over $1.4 million. Additional work at Central (built in 1929 with an addition added in 2006) will include new energy efficient windows as well as tuck-pointing (repair and restoration) of the exterior brick and replacement of the heating and air conditioning units, which are 18 years old. The windows are believed to have been last replaced sometime in the 1970’s and the heating and A/C units last installed in 1996. The total cost of the Central school location would be an estimated $682,000.

The school district has listed a project timeline table on their website.
