A high-flying opportunity is now available for young aviation enthusiasts as registration opens for the Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport Summer Flight Camp. Designed for children ages 8 to 12, the three-day drop-off program will run from Thursday, May 29 to Friday, May 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a thrilling finale on Saturday, May 31.
Campers will get hands-on experience building and launching model rockets, learn about the parts of an airplane and airport operations, and be introduced to drone technology. The camp will culminate with free flights provided by EAA Chapter 1098 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The cost to attend is $175, which includes lunch on the first two days and a camp t-shirt. Four scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis for families needing assistance. The camp is capped at 20 participants to ensure quality instruction and engagement.
The program is made possible through a partnership with the University of Oklahoma Sooner Flight Academy, EAA Chapter 1098, and the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics.
