Original Story

Following a vehicle and foot pursuit, one man is in custody after he allegedly pointed a gun at store employees in an attempted robbery of a Guthrie business and moments later robbed a man at gun point on Highway 105.

The Guthrie Police Department was called out to Carl Jr.’s, located at 2530 E. Noble, inside the new Loves Travel Center at 6:50 a.m. for an armed robbery.

Police say a white male drove up to the building wearing a black hoodie and a red bandana over his face. The suspect pointed a pistol at the cashier through the window and ordered them to open the safe. The employee ran away from the window and the suspect drove off, receiving no money, in an unknown direction.

Moments later, a man flagged down an officer inside the Loves’ parking lot and stated he had just been robbed on Highway 105. The suspect’s information was given and matched the description of the believed robber.

The suspect, Waylon Peltier, who recently just turned 18 years old, was seen driving in a silver Chrysler minivan. That van was reported stolen on Guthrie’s east side on Monday morning.

The male victim, who was robbed, showed deputies with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office that the minivan turned on Anderson Road off of Highway 105.

Peltier is said to have knocked on a door of a residence, but no one answered and went into another home nearby, which happened to be a relative of the Sheriff’s Office, walked into the residence, but took off once again.

After a brief search, police located the minivan in the area. Peltier ran over several residential fences in the stolen van and took off on foot. A Sheriff’s K9 deputy was able to track the suspect’s path and was taken into custody just after 8 a.m.

Peltier was seen being escorted into the Logan County Detention Center at 9 a.m.

According to investigators, Peltier confessed to attempting to rob Carl’s Jr. at gun point and was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and other crimes.

He’s expected to be formally arraigned as early as Tuesday inside the Logan County Courthouse.
