The Guthrie tennis program traveled to Stillwater Tuesday evening for the Stillwater Tournament.
Cheyenne Royal took on the No.1 seed from Owasso and lost 6-0, 6-0 in the first round and in the second round she played Chickasha and lost 6-0, 6-0 playing in No. 1 singles. In the third round, she played Claremore and lost 6-1, 7-5.
Heidi Kuruvilla playing in No. 2 singles played Bartlesville in the first round and lost 6-3, 6-0 and in the second round took on an opponent from Chickasha and dropped 6-4, 6-4 sets and in her last match she defeated her Norman North opponent 6-2, 6-3.
Brooke Powell and Taylar Swartzbaugh placed third in No. 1 doubles by beating Bartlesville in the first round 6-3, 6-3. In the second round they played top seed Claremore and lost 6-1, 6-0. In their final match they defeated Mustang 6-2, 6-2.
Sarah Howells and Carrisa Mathena placed second in No. 2 doubles by beating Owasso in their first round 6-4, 6-3, and in their second round defeated Claremore in three sets 7-5, 1-6, 10-7 before dropping their final match in the finals to Mustang 6-0, 7-5.
For the BlueJays, Seth Vicchio, who was playing in the No. 1 singles bracket lost to Claremore in the first round 6-1, 6-0. In the second round he lost to Chickasha 6-3, 6-1 and in the last round he lost to Bartlesville 6-1, 6-2.
In No.2 singles Andy Hartley lost to Chickasha 6-1, 6-1, in the second round he lost to Owasso in three sets 7-5, 2-6, 10-5 and his last round he beat Stillwater 6-1, 6-2.
Barrett Porter and Josh Wehrenberg finished third by beating Claremore in the first round 6-4, 6-2 and lost to Norman North 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 doubles. In the third place match they beat Bartlesville 7-5, 7-6.
In No. 2 doubles play, Dalton Jones and Dylan Walker lost to Norman North 6-0, 6-1. In the next round they lost to Claremore 6-2, 6-3 and in their final round they lost to the host team, Stillwater, 6-1, 6-3.
The teams will travel to Oklahoma City for the Altus Tournament and Monday we will be in Bartlesville for the Bartlesville Tournament.
