Summer has officially drifted off and now the fun really begins for the Guthrie Territorial Christmas Celebration 2013. Once again this year the committee is preparing for the tree lighting, light parade, home tour and tree auction.
All of the events are designed to help Guthrie businesses as well as to provide quality events for Guthrie citizens. All funds raised benefit the Christmas committee and its partners.
The committee meets monthly on the fourth Thursday of the month at the downtown offices at Energy Force, 115 N. Second Street, at 6 p.m. and is searching for volunteers.
The committee is currently searching for Territorial Governor nominees, volunteers to help distribute flyers and letters, parade entries for the Christmas Parade on Nov 30, groups or individuals interested in decorating a tree or sharing a talent act for the Variety Show and Christmas Tree Auction on Dec 1 at 2 p.m., people interested in being in a window or providing entertainment for the Victorian Evening on Dec 14 and 21 from 5 to 9 p.m.
This year the committee has two major sponsors: Crescent Oil and Devon Energy. Both generously sponsored events and decorations for the committee and Guthrie. However, the group is still seeking to raise additional funds to purchase commercial grade Christmas wreathes for the light poles downtown. To become a sponsor contact the Chamber of Commerce to learn more at (405) 282-1947.
Contact the committee on Facebook, email at [email protected] and their website.
