An abundance of police patrol was put in place on Tuesday morning at Guthrie High School after reports surfaced on social media about school violence.
In a press release, Guthrie Public Schools said there were made aware of reports on social media of planned violence at the high school.
The school district says those reports were thoroughly investigated by the Guthrie Police Department and have not been found to be credible.
Several officers with the Guthrie Police Department and deputies with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were seen on school grounds and patrolling nearby streets.
“I want to thank the Guthrie Police Department and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance today in providing additional layers of security to assure student safety,” Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson said.
“We will continue to investigate any reports so we provide a safe learning environment for our students.”
The school districts is asking if anyone has new information regarding any threat to school safety, they should share that with the Guthrie Police Department as soon as possible.
