Three GHS offensive lineman sign on National Signing Day

The Guthrie High School football program continues to send student-athletes onto the collegiate athletic field. On Wednesday, the program signed three offensive lineman.

Surrounded by family, teammates, friends and classmates, Dalton Freshour, Justin Dutton and Seth Dean signed their letter to play college football at Guthrie High School.

Freshour will join Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Dutton will take his game to the Division I level with Arkansas State and Dean will travel to Alva and join Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

The trio anchored the Jays offensive line.

“All three of these young men have exemplified outstanding character on and off the football field academically and athletically,” Jays head coach Kelly Beeby said on the stage inside the GHS cafeteria.

“That is why they are given this opportunity today.”

Dean was a two year starter and the Rangers have ideas of moving him to a blocking full back.

Freshour, who moved to Guthrie his senior year from Putnam City North, made an immediate impact for the Jays. Along with Dean, Freshour was a 5A-2 District second team offensive lineman. Related article: Dutton named Lineman of the Year; 8 Jays on 5A-2 all-district team

Dutton has earned several post season awards, including being named to the Oklahoma Football Coaches Association All-State team. He was a three-year starter and piled up several collegiate football offers. Related article: Justin Dutton named to OCA All-State team

“When we needed a tough yard we called his (Dutton) number and ran behind him. We pulled Seth Dean to him and we kicked down with Dalton,” Beeby said.
