Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman and the Christmas Penguin were all scheduled to be painted with the Tipsy Artist and her friends for a great cause, but the Oklahoma weather had other plans. However, a generous donation and the painting must go on.
Tiffany Bohrer, the Tipsy Artist, organized a fundraising party for Dec. 5 for anyone who wanted to showcase their art skills and sculpt their favorite holiday characters.
The proceeds from the benefit help with the Shopping with a Cop event that helps local children and their family to have a more memorable Christmas holiday.
On Wednesday, the Tipsy Artist donated $1,605 to the program as each ticket helped a child in need.
The annual program is guided by the Guthrie Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #105. Needy children are paired with a Guthrie police officer who spends time with them and helps them pick out Christmas presents for themselves and other family members
“This event (on Dec. 14 at 5 p.m.) is to provide a merrier holiday season and allow the children to spend time with law enforcement officers in a positive setting,” stated Jason Hamilton, program coordinator and vice-president of the Guthrie FOP Lodge.
The painting event has now been re-scheduled for Tuesday, December 17.
If you are interested in donating, you can make the donation at the Guthrie Police Department, or send your tax-deductible monetary donation in the form of a check or money order to Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #105, 306 West Oklahoma, Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044. Any additional questions, please contact the department at 282-3535.
