Truck pulls out onto Highway 33 and strikes van

A two-vehicle accident on Highway 33 Monday evening sent two people to the hospital, but both victims appear to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The accident occurred just west of Mercy Hospital on the highway when a white truck attempted to pull out of Midco Fabricators, located at 3110 W. Noble, when it struck a van who was traveling west bound.

One person was transported from the scene to the hospital non-emergency via ambulance. The other driver was taken by a personal vehicle.

The speed limit in the area of the accident is 55 m.p.h.

One source said the van was traveling without its headlights on, but police say it is to early in their investigation to confirm that.

Both lanes were shut down while crews were able to clean the roadway and wreckers to tow the vehicles.
