Two downtown buildings were damaged Wednesday afternoon after a truck smashed into the structures. The driver was arrested at the scene.
Just before 5 p.m., multiple witnesses saw a black, four-door truck traveling northbound and accelerated into two buildings.
The driver first struck an attorney’s office in the 100 block of S. Division St. and crashed into the south side of the Flitsch Building (Century 21).
The impact caused the airbags to deploy inside the truck.
Witnesses saw the driver get out and walk away from the truck, but only to come back.
Robert Anthony Locke, 34, of Guthrie, was arrested for driving under the influence and possession of controlled dangerous substance.
According to police, Locke had told them he had fallen asleep behind the wheel.
With their investigation, police found narcotics found in a nearby trash can, where Locke was seen walking away from.
Locke was found to have a warrant for his arrest, which was filed in August 2021 for a charge of larceny of merchandise from retailer.
He was booked into the Logan County Jail and is expected to be formally charged later this week.
