Perhaps the most surprising basketball game in the Suburban Conference, Tuesday evening, was inside the Guthrie High gymnasium.
The Guthrie boys basketball got the anticpated win over Noble, but it took overtime to stay unbeaten in conference. Meanwhile, Piedmont took two games from their arch rival Deer Creek.
Week 8 rankings have been released by the coaches. On the boys side in 5A, El Reno comes in at No. 9, Guthrie No. 10, Shawnee No. 13, Carl Albert No. 15, Deer Creek No. 17, and Chickasha No. 19. In 4A, Piedmont is No. 7 and Harrah is No. 14.
In the girls week 8 5A rankings, Shawnee is No. 4, Western Heights is No. 6, Carl Albert No. 8, Deer Creek No. 9, Guthrie No. 15, and El Reno No. 18. In the 4A rankings, Harrah is No. 4 and Piedmont is No. 9.
