The Guthrie Police Department secured nearly six pounds of marijuana and drug paraphernalia with two arrests last week.

Officers arrested William Monroe Morgan (03-10-1984) on two outstanding warrants from Logan County and Denton County, Texas after he was seen leaving his house in the 200 block of 2nd Street on February 23rd.

After placing Morgan under arrest, officers found 9 rectangular plastic bricks containing marijuana and a plastic bag of the drug combining to weigh 5.968 pounds. A digital scale, $96 in cash and a Oklahoma Access card with another name on it was also found on Morgan, who was concealing the items inside a large, black coat.

According to the incident report, a maroon four-door vehicle was seen leaving the house shortly after Morgan’s arrival. Shankea Holmes (09-03-1988), Morgan’s girlfriend, was pulled over where she refused to tell the officer if Morgan was in the house. She also stated that her two children were in Oklahoma City.

While being transported to the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, Morgan told an officer that his two-year-old and nine-month-old children were in the house. Officers immediately made entrance into the home and found the two children on the sofa covered up with blankets and pillows. They were taken into DHS custody.

A search warrant was granted and officers found more marijuana and $1,345.00 in cash inside the home.

Morgan was arraigned on February 27th and is currently facing four counts including, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and two counts on child neglect.

Holmes also faces two counts of child neglect. Both have pending charges.
