OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma Secretary of Environment Gary Sherrer announced that Tyler Powell has been promoted from Director to Deputy Secretary of Environment, while former Special Assistant Carly Schnaithman will serve as Director of Policy.
“I could not be more pleased with the work that Carly Schnaithman and Tyler Powell have done for my office. Both have given their all in working through the environmental issues the state is facing,” said Secretary Gary Sherrer. “I continue to be excited about the future of these two bright individuals.”
Tyler Powell has served as the Director of the Office of the Secretary of Environment since April 2011. He has served as a policy advisor to Secretary Sherrer and has overseen the administrative functions of the office. A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Tyler previously served as a field representative for Congressman Tom Cole. He is a native of Guthrie.
Carly Schnaithman is also a graduate of Oklahoma State University and has worked for the Secretary of Environment since July 2012. She has been responsible for coordinating of legislative affairs and public outreach. Prior to joining OSE, Carly served as the OSU Ag Intern during the 2012 legislative session. She is a native of Garber.
The Office of the Secretary of Environment works at the direction of Governor Fallin on the environmental and natural resources issues and provides oversight of Oklahoma’s environmental agencies, including the Water Resources Board, the Department of Wildlife Conservation, and the Department of Environmental Quality.
