United Way launches emergency food drive to support local pantries

United Way has launched an emergency food drive to help restock pantries and ensure families across the community have access to essential food items. Donations can be dropped off at BancFirst, F&M Bank, InterBank, and Prism Bank.

The organization hopes to focus donations on specific items identified by local agencies as being in high demand, including nonperishable meals, proteins, and snacks. A QR code on the event flyers links to an Amazon wishlist and a detailed list of needed items. Those wishing to make a financial contribution can text 25fooddrive to 41444, allowing funds to be used directly to purchase food.

Requested items include Cup Ramen, protein bars, peanut butter, family box meals, mac and cheese cups, shelf-stable milk, oatmeal, tuna and chicken pouches, canned food, crackers, rice, pasta, fruit snacks, and more.

United Way is encouraging everyone to participate by donating or helping spread the word. “This food drive is a vital step in ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry during this time of increased need,” the organization said. “United Way remains committed to supporting the health, education, and financial security of every person in our community.”
