Oklahoma City, OK, August 5, 2012 – Currently the American Red Cross; Central & Western Oklahoma Region is still serving the affected communities with Shelters open at Slaughterville Baptist Church 10101 60th St. Lexington, OK and at Cushing Senior Center 203 E. Cherry in Cushing, OK.
Bulk distribution has begun with the availability of shovels, dust masks, garbage bags, Water, Gatorade, snacks and other items as available. This is available at the Thunderbird Casino and also at the One-Stop-Center at the High School Auditorium in Luther at 178th and Luther Road. Red Cross Caseworkers are available at the One-Stop- Center to discuss individual needs and help with the next steps to recovery. This One-Stop-Center will be open from 8a.m. to 5p.m. Monday.
Mobile distribution of the bulk items, such as dust masks, Gatorade, shovels, sifter boxes generously donated by United Way and the Boy Scouts and additional item, will begin as soon as clear routes through the affected area are identified.
Damage Assessment is happening in the areas where the Red Cross teams are able to get in without risk of safety from fires that may still be burning.
