The Guthrie softball program took big strides on and off the field this season, including major upgrades to the playing facility. But now some of that work is gone to the way side thanks to vandals.
Vandals struck the facility with white spray paint and left their marks on the first base dugout, concession stand and inside the locker room.
Doors to the locker room were damaged when the vandals made their way in.
The school is waiting to hear from the insurance company before proceeding.
Coaches and players spent numerous of hours this season preparing the field and facilities following the May 24th tornado.
If you have any information concerning this crime please contact the Guthrie Police Department at 282-3535.
The first part of January is when this took place. The vulgarity of the graffitti should have been covered up immediately. As of yesterday it still has not been covered up.
If this had happened to the boys baseball field or the football field it would have been removed by now. We were told it has not been removed due to cold weather but there have been plenty of days that were 60 degrees. Lets show this team a little more respect for all the hard work they have done!
The school should have taken immediate action to remove vulgarities that were spray painted on school property. They could have used paint remover to remove the spray paint and that can be done no matter what the temperature. By not removing it immediately, the school allowed vandals to relish in their glory, which is a win on the vandals side. The school also sent a message to the students that this type of thing is acceptable, since it was not taken down immediately, and that school property is not a priority. Disappointed.
