Emergency crews responded to a vehicle fire Tuesday afternoon behind a residence in the 400 block of South Capital.
Just after 12:30 p.m., the Guthrie Police Department and the Guthrie Fire Department arrived to find a car fully engulfed in flames with heavy black smoke billowing into the sky.
Firefighters quickly worked to contain the blaze and were forced to cut open the hood to fully extinguish the fire.
The homeowner said he had been working on the vehicle and was attempting to start it by repeatedly giving it gas when it suddenly caught fire.
No injuries were reported, and no other property was damaged.
The vehicle was declared a total loss.
