Vehicles collide on Highway 33; one person transported to hospital

A motorist did not see an oncoming vehicle when he attempted to pull onto Highway 33 on Tuesday afternoon. The two vehicle accident sent one person to the nearby hospital.

Just after 3:30 p.m., a white four-door Dodge Ram 3500 was pulled over on the shoulder in attempt to find his glasses just east of Academy Road. As he attempted to pull into the westbound lane he failed to see an oncoming vehicle, who was also traveling west.

The vehicles collided in the westbound lane and both traveled across the center line coming to a stop in the eastbound lane. The collision forced the driver’s side air bag to deploy in the four-door Ford Edge.

The driver of the Ford was taken to Mercy Hospital Logan County with chest pain.

Both vehicles needed to be towed from the scene.
