With the extreme July heat, the Guthrie Fire Department is requesting bottled water and sports drinks for firefighters. The VFW Post #4578 Auxiliary responded and made a delivery.
On behalf of the Auxiliary, President Heidi Sermons delivered many cases of drinks to the department on Monday.
“With no end in sight for the heat and fire danger, we are sure to continue having an increased number of fires,” a spokesperson said for the fire department. “If you are able, we would graciously accept any donations of bottled water and/or sports drinks here at the fire station.”
The department, located at 209 E. Springer Ave., also wants to remind the community about their neighboring fire departments.
“If you live in their district, please help them out. We depend on each other during fires and helping them helps us as well. We appreciate your continued support and are proud to serve you each day.”
