Guthrie Public Schools recognized their December Support and Certified Employee’s of the Month at Monday evening’s Board of Education meeting. It took some trickery to get one recipient to the board meeting.

Charity McPeek, the high school administrative assistant, nominated and presented Michele Bufford, who serves as the xxx at Fogarty Elementary, as the Support Employee of the Month.
Susan Birdwell, the school district’s Transportation secretary, nominated and presented Athletic Director Jon Chappell for the Certified Employee of the Month.
“I had to tell a little white lie because if this person (Chappell) had known he was employee of the month he would not have showed up,” Executive Director Doug Ogle told the board members.
“Wow,” Chappell said as everyone turned to the back of the room to see who the winner was.
Along with a plaque, the Guthrie Lions Club donated each recipient a $25 Sonic gift card.
