Video: Guthrie family safely evacuates as flames engulf home

A Guthrie family and their beloved pets narrowly escaped a harrowing ordeal on Wednesday afternoon as flames engulfed the rear section of their residence.

The Guthrie Fire Department swiftly responded to the blaze, located east of town on SH-33, following a distress call at approximately 4:30 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a scene of intense fire emanating from the back of the home.

Fortunately, all occupants, including the family pets, managed to evacuate the premises unharmed, ensuring their safety amidst the chaotic circumstances. Guthrie Fire Chief Dane Lausen confirmed the successful rescue efforts, noting the absence of injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a malfunctioning riding lawn mower, parked in close proximity to the residence, may have triggered the devastating blaze. Authorities are currently delving deeper into the incident to ascertain the exact cause

Firefighters from Oak Cliff, Coyle, Langston, and Meridian fire departments responded to assist Guthrie firefighters. Additionally, Logan County Emergency Management swiftly intervened, mobilizing resources and coordinating relief efforts with the American Red Cross.
