Video: Guthrie home destroyed by fire within minutes

A couple left their home to go to the grocery store, but their trip was cut short when they received a call that their house was on fire.

The Guthrie Fire Department (GFD) was called out to the structure fire at 1507 E. Grant just before 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Smoke and flames were seen escaping the home. Eventually the roof of the home collapsed.

Firefighters remained on the scene after 3 p.m. and a cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Family members feared the couple may have been trapped inside the home, but were relieved several minutes later when they saw the couple arrive to the home.

There were no immediate injuries reported at the scene.

GFD immediately requested mutual aid assistance from Coyle, Meridian and Sooner fire departments while initially responding with only two firefighters.

Prior to the house fire call, the department was on two separate ambulance calls, which kept four firefighters away. Along with mutual aid, GFD was forced to call in other firefighters into the station to help with the fire and any other possible EMS calls.

Pine Street was shut down to allow firefighters to work.

Guthrie News Page will update this article as more details become available.
