Video: OKC Thunder help honor Geese Ausbie at sports museum

A reception was held for Geese Ausbie inside the Territorial Capital Sports Museum on Saturday. A special guest from the Oklahoma City Thunder made an appearance to donate a jersey to the museum and Ausbie.

Thunder television color commentator Michael Cage first donated an autograph Russell Westbrook home jersey to the museum. Afterwards he presented Ausbie was a Thunder road jersey with Ausbie’s name on the back.

Ausbie, who was born in Crescent, gained fame as a Harlem Globetrotter from 1961–1985. Ausbie was offered contracts by the Chicago Cubs and National Basketball Association teams, but instead joined the Globetrotters.

“This is a great man,” Cage said of Ausbie.

Before riding in the 89er Parade, Ausbie was recognized in a reception at Interbank on behalf of the 89er committee.
