Two people were transported to hospitals, including one patient by air, following a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 33 and Academy Road.
The accident occurred just after 4 p.m. on Thursday.
According to a witness on the scene, a white Ford Ranger was travelling westbound on Highway 33 when it was struck by a black Chevrolet Malibu.
“The car came out of nowhere,” the witness said who was following the Ford on the highway when the incident took place.
A second witness says the Chevrolet was on Academy and either attempted to drive north across the highway or make a turn.
The Guthrie Police Department continues to investigate the crash.
The impact sent the Chevrolet off the roadway and down in a ditch on the north side of the highway, while the Ranger remained in the westbound lane.
The female driver of the Chevrolet was airlifted to OU Medical Center from Mercy Hospital Logan County with a serious head injury.
The male driver of the Ford was taken by Guthrie EMS to Baptist Hospital with unknown injuries.
A traffic light is sorely needed at the intersection of Hwy 33 & Academy Road.
