’89er Day Parade officials have always said the parade will go on … rain or shine. And for the 89th time – the parade marched on.
Despite constant rain and cooler temperatures, the largest and the oldest parade rolled down Oklahoma Avenue despite many staying home due to the elements on Saturday afternoon.
Still, the parade was a success and lasted approximately 49 minutes.
This year’s theme was Eighty-Nine Years of 89ers’.
Oklahoma’s ’89er Day Celebration, is an annual April event commemorating Oklahoma’s first land run, held on April 22, 1889, to open the Unassigned Lands of central Oklahoma to non-Indian settlement.
