Two of Class 5A’s hottest teams are set to collide Saturday afternoon inside Jelsma Stadium when the Guthrie Bluejays (6-1, 4-0) host the Altus Bulldogs (7-0, 4-0) on Senior Day — a matchup that could help decide who controls the district down the stretch.
The game was moved from Friday night due to weather forecasts that called for lightning throughout the night.
Both teams enter riding impressive win streaks, but only one will leave unbeaten in district play.
Guthrie leans on its powerful ground attack to control tempo and wear down defenses, while Altus will look to use its passing game to stretch the field and keep pace on the scoreboard.
A season ago, Guthrie made the long trip to Altus and came home with a 56-34 victory. This time, the stakes are even higher as the Jays aim to secure another home playoff game and send their seniors out with a statement win in front of the hometown crowd.
Fans can catch every moment live on GNP TV with the pregame show beginning at 12:30 p.m. and kickoff set for 1:00 p.m.
