With the final week left of the regular season upon us, generally there is some drama as to playoff scenario’s, but that is not the case for districts 5A-1 and 5A-2.
Guthrie, Carl Albert, Ada, and Deer Creek are in the playoffs from 5A-1 with the Jays finishing first and the Titans second. Deer Creek hosts Ada this week and the winner finishes third and the loser finishes fourth.
In 5A-2, Lawton Mac, Ardmore, and Duncan are in the playoffs. Durant and Altus will try to land the final prestigious playoff spot. A Durant (4-5) win over Capitol Hill (1-8) secures them the fourth spot as does a loss with an Altus loss. Altus (4-5), who hosts Ardmore (6-3), will need a win and a Durant loss to make the playoffs.
The Durant/Altus qualifier will travel to district champion Guthrie in Week 11. The winner of Guthrie and Durant/Altus, in the first round, will play the winner of Bishop Kelley and Coweta in the second round. Kelley will travel to Coweta.
The loser between Ada and Deer Creek will go on the road and play 5a-2 district champ Lawton Mac. The winner of Ada and Deer Creek will go on the road to Ardmore for the first round.
One first round playoff game between the two 5A west districts has been set with Duncan traveling to Carl Albert.
