Wilson accepts new administration role; teacher requests approved

Bookmark and Share

Guthrie High School principal Chad Wilson has accepted a new role and will be moving inside the administration building.

Wilson was hired as the Executive Director of Human Resources and Secondary Education at the school board meeting held Monday evening.

Guthrie schools will soon begin a search for a new high school principal.

Wilson fills the void that was opened up after Sharon Herrington accepted the superintendent’s job at Haskell Public Schools.

The school board also adopted a change in the elementary handbook regarding teacher requests.

Parents will now be able to requests four teachers. In past years, three requests were accepted. It is unknown if any other school district accepts teachers request.

Forms will be sent out with students this week that will be in kindergarten thru the fifth grade next year. On the form, it will have a list of all teachers for the grade specific with a box next to the name that can be checked.

Four teachers must be selected on the form. If just one, two or three teacher are selected then the form will not be considered.

Administration will look to continue balance classrooms by gender, ability and special needs kids and simply can not load classes with teacher requests.

Teachers are being evaluated even more now by state regulations with student performances.

In other action by the board:

– approved Two Way Radio Narrow Banding for the transportation department

– approved bus route mapping software for the transportation department

– approved to hire all career and probationary teachers that were listed
