The Woodcrest Fire Department has expanded its capabilities with the addition of a new tanker, marking a significant upgrade for the department’s fleet.
Fire officials announced they took delivery of the new Tanker-1, a project that has been in planning and discussion for several years.
“Not only is it a beautiful truck, but it has many capabilities and features that help us better serve our citizens,” the department shared.
Crews will now begin training on the new apparatus and completing final equipment setup before placing it into active service.
The tanker was made possible through the Logan County sales tax, which is evenly distributed among county fire departments and provides critical funding for equipment and operations.
“This is the kind of results the 1/4 cent sales tax makes possible for Logan County fire departments to purchase equipment to better serve our communities,” the department stated. “We humbly say thank you.”
Officials say the addition of Tanker-1 will enhance water supply capabilities and improve response efforts, particularly in rural areas where access to hydrants may be limited.
