4-H Banquet recognizes this year’s winners

The 2023-2024 4-H Achievement Banquet was held on July 29 at the Logan County Fairgrounds Educational Building in Guthrie. These members worked hard all year long and it did not go unnoticed.

Jackson Williams Memorial Award

This award is $100 and sponsored by several donors including his parents, Steven and Karen Williams. The recipient for this first year is Bridger Arrington, from Mulhall-Orlando Club. His parents are Ryan and Kayce Arrington. Bridger exhibits dedication, devotion, and passion in his life and 4-H work, as Jackson did.

Arleen Mack Memorial Livestock Award

This award is $100 and sponsored by Mulhall-Orlando 4-H Club. The recipient for this first year is Paxton James, from Mulhall-Orlando Club. His parents are Grant and Caedee James, and grandparents are Larry and Cathy James. Paxton has learned responsibility, communication, and time management through his livestock project, as Arleen would have loved.

Outstanding Beginner Award – Sponsored by Kellogg Insurance Agency, Guthrie, OK & Prairie Flower Farms, Guthrie, Ok

· Maggie Ferguson, from Guthrie 4-H. Her parents are Michael and Brandie Ferguson. Maggie’s main project areas are Expressive Arts and Design & Construction.

· Carver McLain, from Mulhall- Orlando 4-H. His parents are Bill and Jessica McLain. His 4-H project areas are Shooting Sports and Robotics.

Outstanding Junior – Sponsored by Logan County Leader Council

· Josephine Major, from Mulhall-Orlando 4-H. Her parents are Mike and Paula Major. Her main project areas are archery and dairy, both of which she has placed in competitions this past year.

· Rebekah Spurlock, from Crescent 4-H. Her parents are Dusty and Melissa Spurlock. Rebekah’s main project areas are outdoor recreation and sheep.

Outstanding Intermediate – Sponsored by Dewart Gumerson Insurance, Guthrie, OK

· Sophia Spurlock, from Crescent 4-H. Her parents are Dusty and Melissa Spurlock. Her project areas are sheep and equine.

· Gracie Ferguson, from Guthrie 4-H. Her parents are Michael and Brandie Ferguson. Her project areas are Food and Nutrition and Fashion and Fabrics.

Outstanding Senior – Sponsored by Logan County Abstract, Guthrie, OK

· Bobby Ferguson, from Guthrie 4-H. His parents are Michael and Brandie Ferguson. His project areas are Shooting Sports and Wildlife and Fisheries.

· Austin White, South Logan County 4-H. His parents are Joe and Katrina White. His project areas are Health & Fitness and Performing Arts.

Dairy Award – Sponsored by Southwest Dairy

· Jaxcie Maker, from Coyle 4-H. This year was Jaxcie’s first year in 4-H, which has been very successful. She competed in a foods category with a demonstration called “Legend Dairy”. This demonstration had a focus on using dairy to make overnight oats for a healthy breakfast.

Food & Nutrition Award

· Kynslee Spurlock, from Crescent 4-H- Kynslee has tried several projects in her 4-H career, but food sciences is one she most enjoys. At home she has taught her siblings how to bake and regularly makes meals and desserts for her family. In 4-H, she taught other members about the basics of bread making and helped with the bake sale fundraiser.

I Dare You Award – Presented by the 4-H Leaders Council, books written by William A. Danforth are given to 4-H members who exemplify four-square development, which includes physical, mental, social and moral development.

· Jace Taylor, from Mulhall-Orlando 4-H. Jace has had countless opportunities to grow physically, mentally, socially and morally. He has started a new project area this year- safety. He is interested in the diversity of this area, especially regarding welding and prescribed burning. Jace has learned new values and skills, like welding and woodwork.

County Hall of Fame – Award Sponsored by Guthrie News Leader; Portraits are sponsored by Abigail Ropp with Ropp Studio; Cash prize is sponsored by Dennis Och’s Family.

· Bella White, the daughter of Joe and Katrina White and a member of the South Logan County 4-H Club. Bella is in her senior year of high school and has been in 4-H since she was in 5th grade. She is passionate about expressive arts and says 4-H has helped her share her passion and knowledge. She also enjoys health and fitness and has grown to appreciate the science behind eating right and taking care of your body.

· Austin White, the son of Joe and Katrina White and a member of the South Logan County 4- H Club. Austin is also in his senior year of high school. Austin is passionate about Health and Fitness along with Performing Arts. He plays 3 different instruments and receives excellent ratings at all his competitions. 4-H has provided him with opportunities to show and develop leadership and citizenship skills.

The following received a medal which was sponsored by Interbank, Guthrie, OK, Bud and Jill M of Guthrie, OK, and Logan County 4-H Adult Leaders Council.
