Fatal collision in Logan County claims one life

A fatal crash occurred on Tuesday at approximately 10:09 a.m. at the intersection of N. MacArthur Blvd and W. Crescent Dover Rd., about one mile west of Crescent.

The lone vehicle involved was a 2000 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 50-year-old James Dean Ramsey of Crescent. Ramsey was pronounced dead at the scene by medical professionals with EMSA. His body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City.

According to authorities, Ramsey was traveling southbound on MacArthur Blvd at a high rate of speed when he ran a stop sign at Crescent Dover Rd. The excessive speed caused the vehicle to lift off the ground and overturn onto its driver’s side. Ramsey, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected through the driver’s side window and pinned underneath the vehicle.

The exact condition of the driver leading up to the crash remains under investigation, though speed has been identified as the primary cause of the collision. It was confirmed that the vehicle was equipped with seatbelts, but they were not in use at the time of the crash.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
