Arrest warrant sought for fourth murder suspect; more details revealed

An arrest warrant was filed on Tuesday for a fourth murder suspect in the killing of 24-year-old Joey Angelo, who was shot 36 times on Guthrie’s east side on April 5.

Angelo was found with multiple gun shots just after midnight at 312 S. Oak. He was transported by Guthrie EMS to a Oklahoma City hospital where he later died.

Authorities arrested Reggie Dewayne Smith, 37, his cousin Derrick Smith, 25, and with Frederic Veasley Jr., 29. All three have been charged with first degree murder and are being held without bond in the Logan County Jail.

The fourth murder suspect is Jashawn Bracey Perry , 23, of Midwest City.

Perry is 5’ 3 tall and weighs approximately 135 pounds. His last known address is in Midwest City. Oklahoa State Bureau of Investigatios special agents believe Perry is armed and very dangerous, knowing he is wanted for first degree murder.

According to a new court document, Derrick Smith reportedly admitted to investigators on April 28 he was at the scene of the shooting, but stayed in the car at the time of the shooting. However, Veasley and a female witness told investigators he stayed in the car and not Derrick.

According to the female, who was interviewed on May 1, stated on the night of the murder she was in her Oklahoma City apartment with Derrick Smith, SELO (Perry) and Veasley when they received a call from Reggie about being shot at.

The four traveled to Guthrie in the female’s vehicle, drove to Reggie’s house and picked him up.

She says Derrick drove the vehicle and Reggie gave directions to the house at 312 S. Oak. Once they arrived, she says Derrick, Reggie and Perry got out of the vehicle and that Veasley moved to the front passenger seat and she moved to the driver’s seat.

After hearing gun shots, the female stated Derrick was the first to get back into the car followed by Reggie and Perry.

Once in the car, the female told investigators Derrick said they had set a record for how many times a guy got shot. She added, Derrick said Reggie punched the guy in the face, stepped back and said “let it rain”, according to the court document.

Court papers go on to show Derrick allegedly gave a male two barrels from guns and asked him to get rid of them. The person says he threw the barrels in the Cimarron River.

In the interview, Derrick Smith told the investigator Reggie had his .22 caliber rifle once they got to Oak St., but didn’t know who had the pistol. Veasley also said Reggie left the vehicle with the .22.

Reggie Smith was interviewed and denied leaving the house or being involved in the murder.

Following an autopsy of Angelo, 44 bullet wounds were found with some being entrance and exit wounds.
