In a special Board of Education meeting, Guthrie Public Schools appointed a new school board member.
Following an executive session on Thursday evening, the board voted 6-0 to appoint former school board member Gail Davis.
In 2016, Davis resigned her post to allow a family member to teach in the school district. That family member is no longer a teacher for the district.
Davis replaces her sister-in-law Gina Davis, who resigned last month. Gina Davis told the board that her son is wanting to move back to Guthrie from Texas and wishes to seek employment in the school district.
In 2013, Davis was elected to the school board after running unopposed.
Gail Davis will fill the Ward 6 seat until the next election cycle set for early next year.
