It was exactly as it was drawn up for senior Kyla Boyd Thursday evening.
Boyd and her Lady Jays softball team had no problem with 20th ranked Western Heights with an 11-0 rout. The non-district game improved Guthrie’s overall record to 17-18 on the season.
The Lady Jays finished with a 7-5 home record that saw multiple upgrades to the facility following the May 24th Guthrie tornado.
Guthrie will look to end the regular season with a .500 record and one final win in district when they travel to McGuinness on Friday. The Lady Jays will look to improve upon their 8-5 district record.
Boyd credited the addition to first year head coach Lee Linsenmeyer for the quick turn around this season from a 14 win season a year ago.
“Since Coach L has been here we have bonded a lot more as a team,” Boyd said, who was honored before the varsity game as the lone Lady Jay senior.
Boyd was quick to give advice to her teammates that will return next season especially the seniors.
“Always work hard and keep everyone up,” she said. “You’re the seniors, you have to work the hardest and be good leaders and show up to summer practices,” Boyd concluded.
