Athlete Kentrell Brothers picked up his first offer in early February from Missouri. Since then, the 6-foot, 207-pound do-it-all hybrid has seen his offer list exposed.
Brothers will visit Missouri for the Black and Gold game on April 17. |
Brothers, who is projected to play outside linebacker in college, picked up nine offers in the last two months, swelling his sheet to double digits.
“The last schools to offer me were Arizona, Kansas State, UConn, Tulsa and Washington,” Brothers said.
Besides the Wildcats and Tigers, Brothers has two other Big 12 offers: Baylor and Kansas. It’s been a whirlwind for the star senior-to-be. Brothers rode an impressive junior performance, in which he tallied 17 sacks as a defensive end and over 1,000 yards as a receiver, into national prominence.
His versatility is what interests so many schools.
“A lot of schools keep asking me where I want to play,” Brothers said. “I tell them that it doesn’t matter. I really don’t have a preference. Whatever will help the team.”
Now, Brothers is beginning to make the rounds to the schools that offered. He’s visited Oklahoma and Oklahoma State already, but the Sooners and Cowboys haven’t extended scholarships.
His first visit to a school that’s offered will come to the team that jumped on his bandwagon first.
“I’m going to Missouri next weekend for the spring game,” Brothers said. “Finally. I’ve been trying for a while, but I hadn’t been able to make it yet.”
Brothers added that he has upcoming basketball tournaments in Kansas, and hopes to visit the Wildcats and Jayhawks then.
The deluge of offers have only complicated things for Brothers, who said he doesn’t have a favorite at this time. He also doesn’t have a timeline for a commitment.
“Anything can happen,”Brothers said. “If I get a good feeling about the school, it could happen on a visit. But at this point, I’d doubt it. I think I need to see a few more schools.”
