With the recent rains, Governor Mary Fallin has removed Logan County and 21 other counties from the Governor’s Burn Ban effective immediately. Also, Guthrie Fire Chief Eric Harlow lifted the City of Guthrie’s burn ban.
Fallin signed a proclamation removing the 2 counties, but thirty-three counties remain under a state-issued burn ban and another three counties are under county commissioner bans.
“The long term forecast shows continued drought conditions through much of the state where the ban remains in effect, but the risk of wildfire has lessened in several areas, allowing us to reduce the burn ban coverage. We are hopeful that rains will continue across the state to allow further reduction of the ban,” Fallin said.
The burn ban removed in Guthrie stops a 67 day stretch of no open fires. In 2011, the city went 104 days under the ban.
To burn in the city limits a permit must be purchased.
