Burtcher resigns city council seat

Just after two months of service, Chuck Burtcher has resigned from the Guthrie city council.

Burtcher, a former Guthrie mayor (2007-2013), sent his letter of resignation on Friday morning. Burtcher cited the decision was made on behalf of his doctor’s advice and family wishes.

In April, Burtcher edged out incumbent Brian Bothroyd 309-231 to win the ward two race.

The City will soon be seeking applications to fill the void. The council shall select, by an affirmative vote of at least four members, an eligible person to fill the vacancy.

Burtcher is the fifth sitting council member to resign since 2011.
