Car speeding with no headlights on strikes vehicle head on

A two-vehicle, head on accident, resulting in a vehicle fire on S. Division, sent two people to the hospital on Saturday evening.

Just before 9 p.m., Guthrie police officers said a female driver was speeding in a Ford Taurus with no headlights on in the 3100 block of S. Division. The driver, traveling in the northbound lane, crossed into southbound traffic striking a Nissan Altima. The impact deployed both vehicle’s airbags.

The female driver is believed to have been traveling over 60 mph in the 45 mph speed zone.

The male driver, inside the Altima, says his car spun out and caught fire. He was forced to escape through the passenger side window.

The Guthrie Fire Department extinguished the fire coming from the engine.

Both subjects were transported to Mercy Logan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
