CASA for Kids in Payne and Logan Counties will host several lunch and learn sessions on April 9 and 24 as well as May 9. Each session is an informal opportunity for citizens to learn more about CASA for Kids and how their volunteers are helping abused and neglected children in Logan County. Each session will be held between noon and 1 p.m.
The staff for CASA for Kids will give a brief presentation to educate attendees about the role of CASA volunteers and the need for the program in the Logan County community. Attendees will also hear from current CASA volunteers and will be encouraged to ask questions. Attendees are asked to invite their friends, family or colleagues who might also have an interest in CASA to attend the lunch and learn with them.
There are currently 29 CASA volunteers in Logan County. With more than 149 children in the court system and eligible for a CASA, many more advocates are needed. The CASA for Kids board of directors and staff are committed to growing the program in Logan County to meet this need.
For those interested in becoming a volunteer, information at the lunch and learn will cover training and support offered by CASA for Kids. The next Flex volunteer training class will start in May.
Each Lunch and Learn session will be held at the CASA for Kids office in Guthrie at 116 N. Broad, Suite D. Interested parties can RSVP for a session by calling 405-293-6200.
CASA for Kids is a local non-profit organization that recruits, screens, trains and supports volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in juvenile deprived court cases.
