Guthrie’s run in the Strongest Town contest comes to an end

The further you advance in bracket play, the more painful it comes when you are eliminated from competition. Unfortunately, Guthrie is feeling the emotion of defeat.

After back-to-back wins in the fourth annual strongest town competition, Guthrie came up short in the Final Four.

Pensacola, Florida compiled 64 percent of the vote to move on to the championship round against Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

In the Sweet 16 round, Guthrie moved past Westwood, Kansas and in the next round (Elite 8) sneaked passed Nelson, British Columbia.

The contest is designed to spotlight communities from around the world that are building enduring financial resilience at the local level and actively embodying the Strong Towns approach to economic growth and development.
