Casey Porter named OBCA Assistant Coach of the Year

The Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association has recognized recently hired Guthrie head baseball coach Casey Porter as the Assistant Coach of the Year.

Porter, who is in his 19th season at Guthrie, will be honored Jan. 24 at the OBCA Winter Baseball Clinic in Oklahoma City.

Porter was named the interim head coach of the Guthrie program earlier this week by the Board of Education. He takes over the position from Hall of Fame coach Jon Chappell, who is now the school district’s athletic director.

Along with Porter, Mack Chambers (Broken Arrow), Matt Foster (Vici), Tim Reisen (Pioneer), Jimmy Gather (Mangum), DJ McIntyre (Norman), Rod Cline (Fletcher), and Jeff Kulbeth (Washington) will also be recognized at the clinic.
