Ceremonial signing held for bill requiring insurance to cover autism

Gov. Mary Fallin (seated) and Sen. AJ Griffin (far right) at a bill signing ceremony recently held at the state Capitol to mark the approval of HB 2962, which requires insurance companies to cover the screening, diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorder for children under the age of 9.

Griffin, R-Guthrie, was the principal Senate author of the measure and Rep. Jason Nelson, R-Oklahoma City, was principal House author.  Supporters of the legislation, including families with children who have autism spectrum disorder, were also present for the ceremony.
