The Guthrie Lady Jays basketball squad continues to string wins together, including two more in the Chickahsa Basketball Classic.
Guthrie (6-3) jumped out to a quick 16-5 lead over tournament host Chickasha en route to a 45-16 win to claim the Consolation bracket. Earlier this season they claim the third place trophy in the Duncan Tournament.
Senior Allyson Chadd missed out, once again, on a double-double by collecting 11 points and nine rebounds to lead the Jays. In yesterday’s win over John Marshall, Chadd collected 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Lady Jays received great play from senior guard Jill Davis. “Jill played really well and shot the ball well,” assistant coach Jeff Ball said following the win. Davis was one of four players to finish with eight points.
“We responded well after the loss to MacArthur. We were patient with the Chickasha zone and Coach (Jeff) Fuller was really pleased with our rotations,” Ball said.
For the third time this season, Guthrie has won back-to-back games and will go for their third win in a row when they travel to El Reno on Tuesday evening when they return to conference play.
