On the 8th day of Christmas my true love gave to me 8 maids a milking! We’re almost there….. one of Santas elves sent me an email saying Santa was going to stop in to refuel at the Guthrie/Edmond Regional Airport on Sunday the 23rd around 3p.m before heading to the North Pole for his big day. Santa will be doing a photo shoot with any of the kids and will update their lists if need be!
Channel 9 came through town last Friday for a visit, giving away all sorts of goodies for those who had the time to stop by and see them. They covered the Historic Homes Tour, Pollard Theatre and the Victorian Walk Windows.
The second weekend of the Victorian Walk started filling the downtown at 3:30 and continued until well after 8p.m. Retailers had record numbers at the end of the day and people went away happy and entertained! The nativity scene counted 1390 visitors! I appreciate everyone who worked hard on making all of the December events successful! I am really thankful our board had the foresight to put together a Christmas Committee that works hard all year long on making December a really huge event!
Father John Borrego of Trinity Episcopal Church, 310 East Noble Avenue dropped off a flyer. His church is preparing a Christmas Feast for anyone who would like to attend from 11:30a.m. to 1p.m. on Christmas Day! If you plan on attending please call 282-0982, and let them know so they can prepare accordingly. In case you didn’t know Trinity Episcopal Church along with others in the community have provided “Lunch on Noble” since 2007!
Many families look for other families to adopt every year in December. Guthrie has numerous places that help children and families, here is a short list: Youth Shelter, DHS, local Fraternal Order of Police, Peppers Ranch and Eagle Ridge. Other non-profits providing food to these families are God’s Food Bank and Hands of Jesus.
This week’s Chamber Coffee will be hosted by the Blue Belle Saloon, located at 224 W. Harrison. Bring your business card for the drawing, everyone is welcome to attend. There will be a Ribbon Cutting following the coffee; we will begin at 9:30a.m. Have a wonderful and safe week…..Merry Christmas everyone!
