Chamber chat: Huge crowd takes in 89er Celebration

Bookmark and Share

I hoped you enjoyed the 89er Celebration. The crowds were estimated between 25,000 and 30,000. I heard many people comment it was one of the best parades they have seen. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who worked hard on the committee.

Chamber President Mary Coffin

With Tornado season upon us you might be interested in signing up for the Code Red Community Notification System. Code Red is used to warn individuals who are absolutely in the path of a tornado. Signing up uses your address compared against latitude and longitude to be sure there aren’t false warnings and call you on your home phone or cell phone when you need to take shelter.  If you are interested in signing up call the City of Guthrie at 282-0496.

God’s Food Bank is organizing a community garden this Saturday from 10a.m. to 3p.m and needs your help. They will be working on raised beds and laying paving stones donated by Dolese. The produce grown in these beds will be given to people who go to God’s Food Bank for food. The next phase of raised beds will be for anyone in the community. The sole purpose of the garden is to increase fruit and produce for Logan County residents.  For more information please contact Kim Quigley at 613-6666.
