Thursday, Aug. 14 the Oklahoma Blood Institute will host a blood drive at Mercy Hospital Logan County from noon to 6pm in the cafeteria. Sign up at 260-4195.
Friday, Aug. 15 the Guthrie Lions Club will host their annual Fish Fry at the American Legion Building. Lunch is from 11am to 1pm and dinner is from 5pm to 7pm. Proceeds will fund scholarships at the Guthrie High School.
Next Friday the 22nd, Guthrie Job Corps will be celebrating their 50th anniversary on center from 9:30am to 11:30! Congratulations! The Guthrie Job Corps Center is now hiring for these positions: Academic Instructor: (2 Positions Available) : Performs professional level instruction to students enrolled in Academics (Grades 7-12), GED preparation and TABE reading and math preparation classes. Also responsible for instructing social skills, employability skills, applied academics and project-based learning. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience: Education: Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Possession of teaching certification in the State of Oklahoma. Must have a valid Driver’s License Social Development Advisor: (Multiple Positions Available)The successful Social Development Advisor will oversee the residents in the dorms to ensure a safe and secure environment. To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. One year related experience and/or training working with youth. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor degree preferred. Carpentry Instructor: Teaches the basic principles and concepts of carpentry vocational skills to students. Center Protection Officer/Driver: Center Protection Officers protect and ensures the welfare of students, staff, facilities, ground and equipment. Also drives GSA vehicle to transport students to and from Center. To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
