Update on Oct. 30, 2014 at 5:45 p.m. — Samuel Mark Selig III “Santa Fe Sam” turned himself into law enforcement on Thursday afternoon. He later made his first court appearance.

Court documents show Selig is now facing six charges, including lewd molestation, four counts of possession of child pornography and violation of computer crimes.

Judge Robert L. Hudson set a $50,000 bond. Selig’s next court date is set for Jan. 22 at 9 a.m.

Original Story on Oct. 3, 2014 — The Logan County Sheriff’s Office has conducted their investigation into allegations of child molestation by a well-known, former Edmond school employee and sports announcer. Now, the case has been turned over to the District Attorney’s Office.

accuseIn late March of this year, the Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into allegations of child molestation against Samuel Mark Selig, 68.

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services reported these allegations.

Chief Deputy Richard Stephens says the investigation has been time consuming for a number of reasons.

“The two victims are cousins and great nephews of Selig. One victim lives in Logan County, Oklahoma and one lives in McIntosh County, Oklahoma. Forensic Interviews of both victims were coordinated in their jurisdictions. During one of these interviews it was alleged that Selig was displaying what appeared to be child pornography on a home computer. The forensic examination of computers through the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is difficult, time consuming work.”

Investigators interviewed Selig, who was accompanied by his Attorney Rebecca King, and during the interview Selig denied molestation of the original victim in the investigation. However, Stephens says Selig confessed to molesting a different great nephew on a recent visit in May.

Selig consented to forensic analysis of his home computer which was performed by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. The examination resulted in the documentation of four image files and two video files that appeared to contain images of children under the age of 18 engaged in lewd exhibit of uncovered genitals for the purpose of sexual stimulation of the viewer. The files contained names of “Boy” or “Porn” and were consistent with the images that the victim described during forensic interview.

The Sheriff’s Office has presented five charges to the DA, including two counts of looks upon, touches, mauls, or feels the body parts of any child under 16 years of age in any lewd or lascivious manner against public decency and morality, forcible sodomy, possessing child pornography and violation of the computer network.

Selig, who resigned this past April, is a former Edmond Santa Fe High School employee and sports announcer.

According to KFOR, in a Facebook post before his last day at Santa Fe, he announced his resignation adding, “I have made a mistake in my life. A very horrible mistake. One that I cannot and will not run from.”
