The City of Guthrie is moving forward with plans to reconstruct key intersections in the downtown area to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
Upon approval, the intersections at Wentz St. and Oklahoma Ave., Harrison Ave. and 1st St., and Oklahoma Ave. and 1st St. will undergo upgrades to ensure compliance with ADA standards.
As part of the project, intersections with brick will be replaced with brick, and those with concrete will be replaced with concrete.
The Historic Preservation Commission will discuss the project at their meeting on January 6th. If approved, the project will move forward to the Street Capital Improvement Project Committee and eventually to the city council to begin the bid process.
Recently, the City completed traffic signal improvements at other downtown intersections (Wentz St. and Division St., and Noble Ave. and Division St.) aimed at increasing safety and improving traffic flow by adding permissive turns (flashing yellow traffic signals).
