Construction began Monday at the intersection of Oklahoma Avenue and First Street as part of the CIP No. 2 initiative, Growing Guthrie, approved by voters in 2024.
The project focuses on improving ADA accessibility and is expected to take approximately 45 to 60 days to complete, weather permitting. During construction, residents and visitors are encouraged to plan when traveling through downtown Guthrie and to use caution around the work zone.
The enhancements are designed to improve accessibility and safety for all users of sidewalks, crosswalks, and intersections, ensuring compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
Two of the three intersections included in the project have already been completed, including Oklahoma Avenue and Wentz Avenue, along with Harrison Avenue and 1st Street. Work is now focused on the remaining intersection at Oklahoma Avenue and First Street.
City Manager Eddie Faulkner said the project reflects continued investment in the community’s infrastructure. “We are excited to continue investing in Guthrie’s infrastructure thanks to CIP #2 funding sources,” Faulkner said. “These intersection improvements are a meaningful step toward ensuring our downtown is safe and accessible for everyone.”
