Work crews have started back on the renovation of Mineral Wells Park, including a splash pad and new playground equipment.
In November, the City of Guthrie was approved for a 50-50 grant from the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department for the Land and Water Conservation Fund in the amount of $437,500 for park improvements.
The City matched their portion of the $437,500 from the Capital Improvement Project (CIP) sales tax collection.
The project includes a new splash pad, new playground equipment, hard surface parking and ADA accessible sidewalks and three new gazebos that hold true to the historic nature of the park.
Due to the pandemic, work was halted by City crews and contractors.
The target completion date for the splash pad and playground is June 18.
Concrete walkways and gazebos are expected to be completed by July 31.
